Lace dresses and skirts

A trend round-up to inspire you for late-Summer 2010, but also a trend that you'd be amiss not to carry in to Autumn / Fall 2010 / 2011: lace dresses and lace skirts.
Right now you're thinking that this is nothing new. And you're right; it's an extension of the sheer trend that's has, for some time, firmly cemented itself as its own, independent trend. So what follows is, instead, more about how to wear the trend now, and how to set yourself apart from the masses - so that you can bring it forwards and into a new league.

Types of lace

There are many different types of lace, and various methods for producing it - so many that we won't go into them here. The long and short of it is this: it's now less about the stretch, allover lace, and more about antique-style lace. Fabrics that look like a more traditional needle or bobbin lace (even if they're machine made). Generally, go for a wider net, a more unique pattern, a sturdier fabric - rather than a thin stretch lace.

Left: wear less. Right: wear more.

How to wear it

The ultimate balance of lace in 2010 / 2011 is to be romantic but not over-girly; sensual but not over-suggestive. Like taking beautifully crafted lace that would have once been part of a garment and making it the only layer. The lace isn't an added detail of a garment, it is the garment. And thus we come to lace skirts and lace dresses. Dare to wear them without a slip underneath. Just keep the cut a little more relaxed or the hem a little longer to maintain that aforementioned balance.

VIC CHOU OF F4 DIAGNOSED WITH DEPRESSION

18 Aug – Taiwanese heartthrob Vic Chou shot to fame in 2001, after his role in drama "Meteor Garden". Recently Vic said to the Chinese press, "But many people looked down on me, especially those in showbiz. Who is he? He's just a 'pretty vase'."; according to the Xin MSN website.
He added, "People might not believe me when I say this. When I first entered showbiz, all I wanted was to leave this industry. I kept thinking how I could get out of my contract and say goodbye to all these."
Even when countless drama offers came pouring in, Vic was still determined to keep a distance from showbiz because he had seen the things people do to reach the top. The actor was frequently taken advantage of because he is a person who "is unwilling to fight, and would rather do things quietly".
"I was struggling. With my kind of attitude, I would still be bullied, no matter where I worked; but not wanting to fight is my nature," Vic said.
Vic's emotional burden accumulated over the years, resulting in depression a few years ago.
"I was immune to pain and was unafraid of death, during the worst period when I had depression. Death became optional. In other words, I would die, if I wanted to die today," he let on.
The actor might have talked about his illness lightly now, but his condition was rather severe back then.
"Luckily, I have positive-thinking friends, who were willing to listen to me, towards the end of my therapy, and I would tell them about my condition. You're actually helping yourself, if you're willing to share. The negativity would decrease," Vic said.

FORBIDDEN SEX FOR MEN THAT GIRLS SHOULD BE AWARE OF

Once on vacation I found myself seriously attracted to a man I definitely wasn’t supposed to be—a friend of my dad’s, whom he’d invited along. (Hey, I was 24. And he was only 30. OK, maybe 35.) After a day of sailing and a night of hotel bar karaoke, we ended up hooking up on the beach, and spent the rest of the week having a super-secret fling.

Why? Precisely because he was the one person I shouldn’t have gone anywhere near. At some point every girl has had a thing for someone in the “do not touch” category—her best friend’s brother, her sorority sister’s ex—and has, per the rules of polite society, done her best to stay away. But if you think there’s no way she’d cross that line, you’re probably wrong—I’m living proof. Thanks to their illicit nature, off-limits hookups are usually off-the-charts hot. And when played correctly, the reward can be worth the risk.

The girl: your roommateI know four couples who started out as roommates—which shows this challenge can be met, but also stands as a warning: Things can go from zero to husband-and-wife-like very quickly. Still, if it’s easy sex you’re after, a coed roomie can be a jackpot.
When Margaret,* 33, got a new roommate, she said it was only a month before they were fucking on the couch. “One minute we were laughing at Modern Family, the next we had our hands in each other’s pants.” Even hotter: They had to keep things secret from a third roommate. “While we were all hanging out, he’d give me a look, and I’d count the minutes before I could sneak into his room.”

THE RULES OF ATTRACTION

When a female emperor penguin is ready to mate, she approaches the male and lies flat on the ground waiting for him to impregnate her. If only getting laid were so easy for you. Unfortunately, the female human’s desire to hump is usually shrouded in mystery. Even when we do display affection, you’re faced with the difficult task of deciphering whether it means “I like you, let’s get
naked” or “I like you, let’s get sushi with your friend with the scruffy beard.”

But figuring out whether she’s into you isn’t actually that tough—if you know what signs to look for. To help you crack the code, we talked to women who were willing to divulge their biggest tells. All you have to do is pay attention.
Tell #1: She Brushes You OffPlain and simple, a woman’s touch is a good sign. “If women are already connecting with you on the verbal level, a way to show that we want to connect more deeply comes from a touch,” says JamYe Waxman, sex educator and host of the DVD 101 Positions for Lovers. So if she rests her hand on your forearm mid-conversation, she likes you. If she brushes her knee against yours, she likes you. If she grabs your balls, she really likes you. Short of her being pushed into you by a fleeing purse snatcher, in fact, there’s no such thing as a “bad touch.” But there is subtle contact that you may need an even keener eye to catch.

  • BEST HAIR TIPS FOR COLORED HAIR

There is nothing hotter than a fabulous hair color which just enlightens the face, but that fab shade isn't going to maintain itself looking shiny and vibrant. There are a myriad of hair care tips for colored hair that most women ignore and end-up with a dull looking hair color just a few weeks after the process has been done, so why not pay a little bit of attention to your hair care and learn how to make it look luscious for longer.

The beauty of colored hair isn't supposed to last just a few days, until the event you've had coming passes, it's supposed to enable you to shine until your next touch-up session, but those long lasting effects aren't going to show-up on their own. Because the hair dye pigments can easily fade due to aggressive external factors and different hair care agents, it's best to learn how you can protect your hair and prolong the intensity of your locks.

Fabulous hair doesn't only reflect on the outside, but also from the inside as looking fabulous boosts the confidence level sky-high, so you'll project a positive energy towards others, making sure you attract attention. To ensure your hair oozes seductiveness, check out the following tips and try your best to incorporate them into your regular hair care routine:
  • Once you've started to use hair dyes, especially permanent ones, your hair is stripped of it's natural protective barrier, leaving it exposed to external damage, due to its increased level of sensitivity. To protect the hair and ensure it is maintained rich, glossy and soft, use a repair mask, hair balm or serums every time you wash the hair.

  • Use special hair shampoos of your favorite brand which state color protection as they contain ingredients which will reduce color fading.

  • Moisturize your hair every day using leave-in hair balms. These balms don't require you to rinse them out, ensuring your hair is moisturized even when you're not washing your locks. Use a UV protection spray as well especially during the hot season to ensure your hair is not affected by UV rays which can dry the hair and fade hair color.

  • Use hair styling products which are designed especially for colored hair as they will help keep your hair looking fabulous for longer.

  • Right before you've colored your hair, it's best to avoid swimming in chlorinated water or salty water as these ingredients will affect the color of your hair. Tuck your hair inside a swimming cap to protect it if the temptation of taking a dip is too big.

  • Between dying sessions refresh your hair color by using a colored shampoo of the same hue of your hair color.

  • Use on a weekly basis an intensive hair repair mask as they contain concentrated ingredients which can make a difference for your hair. Allow them to act for the time inscriptioned on the label for best results. If you're a true naturalist, you can turn towards the help of homemade hair treatmentssuch as olive oil masks, avocado masks, etc.

  • After washing your hair don't rub the hair with the towel, but try to wrap your hair in the towel and allow it to absorb the moisture without adding friction, as this way the hair will be less prone to breakage.

  • Darker hair will always look more glossy than blonde colored hair due to the fact that dark hair attracts more light than blonde and the light reflected off dark hair is much greater, so if shine is what you're looking for, opt for a darker hue.

  • Keep your hair looking fabulous every day as nothing can top the beauty of gorgeous, healthy looking shiny hair and the only way to keep your hair looking great is through regular care.

Hair Care Tips for Colored Hair

MATCH HAIR COLOR AND MAKE UP BEST TIPS

Your hair color should be an important factor whenever choosing eyeshadows, blushes or lipstick shades. Discover the makeup that will bring out your best features according to your hair color.

    Makeup for Blondes

For blondes, soft shades and pastels are appropriate because they complement the light color of your hair. Darker tones create a strong contrast and give a severe look. You can wear almost any shades, as long as they are not too intense. Try sheer shades of pink, peach, gold and champagne.
  • Eyes: It is more appropriate to use a brown mascara, as the black one stands in contrast with your hair and may look too harsh. Try warm shades of pink, peach or cream beige on the lids. You can also use an ivory-colored eyeshadow and a dark brown eyeliner.

  • Face: Your foundation should have yellow undertones to keep it as natural as possible and choose a pink or peachy blush to add a tint of color to the apples of your cheeks.

  • Lips: Mid tones of light pink, peach and rose look great next to your blonde hair color. Save bright red lipsticks for special occasions.

  • Avoid: heavy eye makeup, as you'll look tired and washed-out, dark tones of blush, black lipstick and anything that might look too harsh next to your light hair color.

  • Makeup for Redheads

It's a general truth that the best makeup for redheads are the ones using green shades. But they can have the same stunning look even when choosing warm makeup tones, like peach and cooper. Try shades of olive green and reddish-browns and even gold shades. You can add a touch of pinkish-brown or apricot. Shimmery and pearly shadows are more appropriate for evening looks.

  • Eyes: For the lids choose neutrals, taupe, greens or brown shades, while for the eyeliner, browns and greens will best compliment your fiery locks.

  • Face: If you're a natural redhead choose beige-toned foundations, but make sure they're not too yellow for your complexion. If you're a warm brunette with an olive complexion, choose foundations with a yellow undertone. For the cheeks use shades of pink and peach.

  • Lips: Choose natural shades or bright pinks and flesh-toned lipsticks.

  • Avoid: Darkening your eyebrow color! Choose light pencils in the shades of red-brown or taupe just to fill them in, rather than darkening them.

  • Makeup for Brunettes

Brunettes are the luckiest girls. They can easily pull off any colors, darker shades or brighter ones. Try gold, bronze, peach, orange, yellow, brown-red and purples.

  • Eyes: Use tones of brown, ivory or mocha for your eyeshadow, and a dark brown to charcoal gray eyeliner.

  • Face: Always match your face powder to your foundation and use blushes in warm shades of peach, dark pink or brick-red.

  • Lips: You can easily use tones of pinkish-brown, brown, mauve or cherry. Nude lip color looks great on olive skin tones.

  • Avoid: pale or bright pink lipsticks, pearl whites or light greens on eyes.

  • Makeup for brownettes

Brown hair color shades tend make skin look dull and ashy. Balance it out by creating subtle contrast with neutral and bright colors. A colors from the neutral palette with soft, satiny finish will best enhance a brownette's features.

  • Eyes: Try ivory , beige and gray or brown eyeshadows and brown eyeliners.

  • Face: Add glow to your skin by choosing blushes in shades of pink, fuchsia or tawny tones.

  • Lips: You can use brown or red satin lipsticks, a high-shine lip gloss is also recommended .

  • Avoid: Foundations that are too fair, as the contrast between the dark hair and pale can make you look washed out.
