Freshly fired from Dior, John Galliano is apologizing profusely over the alleged behavior that got him shown the door at the haute design house.
Galliano came under fire after ugly anti-Semitic and racial slurs surfaced in a videotape gone viral. Condemnation of the fashion king was swift and unforgiving from actress and Dior spokesmodel Natalie Portman. Galliano is speaking out for the first time in a statement released by his attorneys to People magazine.
"Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologize for my behavior in causing any offense," he told the magazine.
Wednesday prosecutors in Paris ordered Galliano to stand trial over the alleged insults, Associated Press is reporting. Making anti-Semitic is against French law and punishable by a fine of up to approximately $30,000 or six months in prison.
Galliano became Dior's creative director in 1999.
