For her first of two songs on Wednesday's "American Idol," Haley Reinhart gave fans a special first listen to an unreleased Lady Gaga song. Did the judges find it gagalicious or did it just make them gag?
With Lady Gaga's blessing, Haley sang "You and I." The reviews of her performance were less than favorable from Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson. Mentor Jimmy Iovinesuggested she take a stab at the brand-new song, but JLo said, "I'm just not sure that was the best advice." Randy reviewed, "I'm not so sure it's that great of a song… It's so risky to come out and do something no one's familiar with."
But, Haley had Steven Tyler in her corner. "When someone can take a song they don't know and make it work, that's a beautiful thing," he said. "I think you're just one perfect song away from being American Idol." Watch the video to draw your own conclusion of Haley's voice.
Earlier this week, Lady Gaga revealed the track listing of "Born this Way." The upcoming album, which releases on May 23, does feature "You and I."
Will Haley get the chance to redeem herself in the eyes of JLo and Randy next week? Find out on the "American Idol" results show, Thursday on Fox.
