Kelly Ripa sans Regis Philbin: Kathie Lee Gifford has her back
The hunt is still on for a worthy Regis Philbin replacement for "Live with Regis and Kelly,"though no one can truly "replace" the Reege. While rumors have circulated that he may launch a program that will compete with "Live," Kelly Ripa has been garnering plenty of support on her own.
Kathie Lee Gifford, who was Philbin's co-host prior to Ripa, tells Page Six "I don't worry about Kelly. She will be great," regarding the upcoming changes.
"Regis has been a conduit for all of these women who have worked with him, but Kelly has talent," she continues. "She definitely made more money that I did on the show!"
Gifford went on to host the fourth hour of NBC's "Today Show" with Hoda Kotb in 2008 after leaving "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" in 2000 to pursue her singing career.
It remains to be seen who will share the stage with Ripa following Philbin's departure, but several names have already been dropped including Ripa's husband Mark Consuelos and one of our favorites, "Dancing With the Stars'" "Psycho" Mike Catherwood.
