THE DO'S AND DONT'S IN BUYING BRA

Finding the perfect bra can be a daunting task, especially if you’re not well-informed. But fret no more; Linda’s Online is here to save the day. Check out the tips for finding your best fit bra. You’ll never make a brastake again!

Do Make Sure You’re Buying the Proper Size – We all know what’s sexy but you know what’s not? Quad boob. Unless, of course, you enjoy when your breasts are too big for the bra and they spill out. You know what else isn’t sexy? When your bra is too big and your straps are constantly falling off your shoulders. To avoid these common pitfalls, get fit by a specialist, learn your true size and buy well-fitting bras. Your band should fit snuggly on the first hook and the cup should envelop your breast so that no excessive breast tissue is peaking out. Once you’re properly fit, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

Don’t Expect Miracles – Like most women, I am guilty of the number one bra faux pas – I expect my bra to solve every single one of my booby issues. This unfortunately isn’t possible and we have to get used to it. As my bra fitter Hailey once told me when I requested a snug and supportive bra that would hide my back fat and arm pit fat, “Your breast tissue will still be there because you can’t displace matter into another dimension.” Miracle Bras™ do exist but Science Fiction Bras don’t.

Do Buy Bras For Your Size Now – You’re a 34DD now but you know for sure you’ll be a 32C after you go to the gym and stop eating those delicious sugar cookies. Buying a smaller bra will surely motivate you, right? Wrong. Don’t. Do. This. Instead, invest in a stretch cup bra that fits your current size. Unlike molded cup bras that will show obvious differences when you lose weight, stretch cup bras will adjust to fit your changing body. (To a certain point, of course.) Once your weight stabilizes, you can then buy all the bras your boobs desire. In the meanwhile, check out Elila Bras for great soft cup options.

Don’t Feel Bad about Your Size – Ladies, ladies, ladies. You breast tissue will remain the same size regardless of what the label says. Much like jeans, bra sizes are determined by the brand and sometimes even the product line. If you look fabulous in a size that is bigger than you normally wear, don’t stress it. It’s better to look fabulous in a size you’re not used to than look awful in the size you think you are. At the end of the day, you will have the same amount of breast tissue regardless of the number/letter on a label.

Do Know What You Plan to Wear it With – If all you’re buying are lace bras and expect them to look seamless under t-shirts, you will be disappointed. Lace bras are great for chunky knits and printed tops but t-shirt bras are what you’ll want for t-shirts. Similarly, skip full-coverage bras if you’re all about the v-necks and instead opt for demi-cup styles. Skip heavy molded bras if you wear a lot of button-downs (they’ll pull at the buttons) and instead go for minimizer bras. If you’re in need of options, check out Chantelle bras. They have beautiful bras in every style.

Don’t Skimp – Buy Several Bras – Every woman should have at least three bras in her lingerie drawer. Avoid wearing the same bra two days in a row if you can. Wearing your bra without giving it a day’s rest will cause the elastic to stretch and this will inevitably shorten the lifespan of your bra. Even more reason to give your favorites a rest – they will last longer! Also note that hand washing is the best method of cleaning your bras. Washing machines and dryers bruise the elasticity of the band which will also shorten the lifespan.
