HAIR: HAIR CUTS FOR YOUR FACE SHAPE

Hair Cuts

I am convinced that there is a perfect haircut for everyone. No matter what your face shape, hair color or texture there is a cut that is sure to flatter anyone. The key is to experiment with many different haircuts and finding out what looks best on you personally. Experiment, have fun and see what you can come up with! Always remember, that no matter how awful the cut may seem at first; it will always grow back! Here are some things to consider when choosing a haircut:

Face Shape
Face shape is one of the most critical things to consider when deciding on a haircut. Choosing a hair cut that compliments your facial features and face shape can add angle to a round face, make a angular face appear rounder or downplay any feature that you are not satisfied with. If you have a round face, you will want to make your face appear more angular by adding fullness to the hair at the top of the head. You will want to avoid haircuts that are very long and straight.

If you have a long face, you will want to have a very soft hair cut to soften up rough spots around the face. You will want to avoid hairstyles that are too blunt or one length. Try to avoid shoulder length hair, because this haircut has the tendency to make your face look even more narrow. Short hairstyles usually look best on people who have a long or angular face shape.

To flatter a square face shape, you want a gentle hair cut to soften the jaw line. Shoulder length or shorter haircuts downplay a square face shape. Layers around the face are also a good choice because they help to soften the outline around the face. Try to avoid center parts because they will draw attention right to the jaw line. Side parts are the best alternative.

Hair Texture
There are a couple rules about hair texture and hair cuts that every girl should be aware of:
  • If you have coarse, thick, curly hair, do not get a short cut. It will make you look like you have an afro. Long hairstyles will make your hair look its best.
  • If you have very thin or fine hair, try not to get a cut that is longer than shoulder length. Once it gets longer than that, it just ends up looking stringy and unhealthy. Try a stylish bob instead.
